As the landscape of caravan parks in Tasmania evolves, the need for a more structured approach to long-term residency came into focus. With the Government initiating discussions on this important issue, Caravanning Tasmania actively engaged in the process to ensure that the voices of both park operators and residents were heard.
Our Role in the Consultation Process
Recently, we were approached by the Government to participate in the consultation process on the regulation of long-term residency in caravan parks. This initiative was led by the Department of Justice, which released a Discussion Paper inviting feedback from the public and key stakeholders.
Reviewing Best Practices from Other States
As part of our commitment to this process, we closely reviewed regulatory frameworks from other Australian states. While these states had implemented various provisions to address long-term residency, the approaches differed significantly. Our goal was to identify best practices that could be adapted to the unique context of Tasmania.
Gathering Industry Feedback
At that stage, our priority was to gather comprehensive feedback from our members and the broader industry. Your insights were crucial as we developed our formal submission to the Government’s discussion paper. We encouraged all stakeholders to share their experiences and perspectives to help shape the future of long-term residency in our state’s caravan parks.
Moving Forward
It was still early in the process, and we were focused on gathering and reviewing the necessary information. While we awaited further developments, we remained committed to advocating for a balanced approach that supports both residents and the sustainability of caravan parks. We will continue to keep our members informed as the consultation progresses and welcome your input.
