The Tasmanian Government is making significant progress on the Devonport port redevelopment, keeping the project on track. A major milestone has been reached with the first of the new Spirit of Tasmania ships successfully completing its initial sea trials off the coast of Finland.
Minister for Transport, Eric Abetz, shared his optimism about the development. “While there’s still work to be done before the vessel enters service, this is an important step forward,” said Minister Abetz. “We expect the first of the new ships to be ready for delivery in Q3 of 2024, and it will start its journey to Tasmania soon after.”
This is exciting news for caravanners and tourists planning trips to Tasmania. The new Spirit of Tasmania ships will provide a smoother and more efficient travel experience, making it easier to bring your caravan over and explore everything Tasmania has to offer.
Additionally, TT-Line has finalised the procurement process for the Berth 3 redevelopment, securing a new contractor. This redevelopment will improve the port’s operations, benefiting all travellers.
With these upgrades, the Devonport port will become an even better gateway for caravanners, offering easy access to Tasmania’s stunning landscapes and unique attractions.
